When Should You Consider Drug or Alcohol Rehab in Newton Abbot?

Substance abuse can affect all aspects of your life. It may be time to consider professional rehab if substances are affecting your health, safety and everyday life. Especially if you have attempted to stop and failed due to withdrawal safety issues, get professional support to ensure you don’t put yourself at risk.

Signs of Drug and Alcohol Addiction

Other potential signs of drug and alcohol addiction to be aware of include:

  • Increased tolerance.
  • Experiencing Withdrawal symptoms
  • Failed attempts to cut down or stop
  • Strong cravings
  • Prioritising substances over responsibilities
  • Continued use of substances despite negative consequences
  • Declining physical or mental health

Drug Addictions We Treat

No addiction is the same, and you require a treatment approach that is suited to treating the specific substance you are addicted to.

Substances that we treat include:

Alcohol Addiction and Dependence

Alcohol addiction without intervention can increase the risk of cancers, lead to poor mental health and damage brain function.

You should consider seeking help for your drinking if you:

  • Increasing tolerance
  • Drink more often or in greater amounts
  • Struggle to stop once you start drinking
  • Tried to stop and are unable to

Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous if you go cold turkey. If you have strong physical dependence, you should consider professional treatment where you can undergo a medically managed alcohol detox programme.

All the staff are happily prepared to go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible.

There are a great range of workshops and activities to help you explore how your mind, body and spirit can assist with your recovery.

The kitchen team provide nutritionally balanced food options and if you don’t fancy what is on the menu they are happy to make something to your taste.

My last day of a 28 day programme at Cassio, what can I say? The best decision I ever made, the staff are amazing, kind, considerate, nothing is too much and they always know everyone’s name so a very personal touch. The group sessions are so informative and with lots of humour thrown in. Food, fantastic Alan the chef is great.
Therapists and practitioners are top notch! Highly recommend Cassio, and the more you put into your recovery the more you will get out. I am leaving a different person and with tools to work the programme once those gates open!
    Thanks Cassio!!!

A really great place to get back on your feet and begin recovery. Staff could not be more helpful, therapy and groups are generally excellent. Rooms are very clean and well appointed, though size and ensuite is a bit of a lottery. Food is really very good, everyones tastes are catered for and in abundance. Snacks water juices, tea’s and coffee’s available 247. I would highly recommend Cassio to anyone looking to get sober change there life.

I am Sam and I arrived at Cassiobury Court for 28 days at the end of May. This was my second rehab experience.

I cannot praise Cassiobury Court enough. Each day was well structured and every group session was designed to give you different tools to sobriety. I learnt so much from all the therapists and key workers that were taking the sessions due to my lack of understanding of this illness. I was in a place where I was made to feel comfortable and no question were silly which encouraged me to dig deeper and ask questions around my illness and myrecovery.

Cassiobury Court approach to recovery, worked very well for me. It was not like Boot Camp. They actually gave me time to digest the information that was given and time to absorb what was said they kind of gave me the balance to learn, but also do every day life things, I also had time to reflect and focus on myself

I would encourage any newcomers to rehab to engage in many group sessions as they can and take out as much as they can out of these sessions the 12 step AA program was explained to me in such a simple way and gave me the confidence to work it.

I would like to give a special thanks to my key worker as she has helped me find a a new sober, Sam. My key worker from the start has been open and honest which has helped me with my recovery.

I would like to also thank all the staff at Cassiobury Court that have had an impact on my road to recovery.

A special thanks to the kitchen staff and the cleaning staff, as by them doing what they do gave me time to focus on myself and not have to worry about cooking and cleaning. The kitchen staff have made sure that I have been eating properly and have helped me build up my strength.

Overall, Cassiobury Court is the place to come to if in need of a medical detox or need to understand what is involved in recovery and give you the opportunity on how to get away from addiction It’s like being given a second sober life.

I cannot thank Cassiobury Court enough.

I recently spent time at Cassiobury Court and I genuinely can’t speak highly enough of the experience.

The support staff were exceptional. The therapists were insightful, grounded, and actually listened. Even the behind-the-scenes team, the cleaners and the chefs, played a huge part in making the environment feel safe and cared for. Special mention to Alan in the kitchen.

What stood out most was how comprehensive the programme is. It doesn’t just scratch the surface of addiction, it goes deeper, looking at the patterns, the behaviours, and the root causes, all delivered with real care and respect.

If someone is serious about getting support, this is a place that truly delivers. Like everything in life, you get out what you put in. Keep up the amazing work- you’re saving lives.

What Happens During Residential Rehab at Cassiobury Court?

As we provide a personalised treatment programme based on an assessment before you start, your journey with us could be unique to you, but there are common parts in every client’s treatment path.

Addiction Assessment and Admission

Our admission process is simple. During your initial call, we’ll get more information about your history, addiction, previous treatments and recovery goals. From this, we’ll come up with a rough treatment plan, decide on an admission date and confirm everything with a deposit.

When you arrive, you’ll undergo an assessment to finalise your care plan, looking at your psychological and physical health, detox requirements and other key factors. Your treatment plan will be developed within 24–48 hours of admission.

Medically Managed Drug and Alcohol Detox

If you need it, the first step of rehab is ending your physical dependence with detoxification. You’ll stop your intake, allowing your body time to rebalance and recover. To manage withdrawal, medication may be administered, and you’ll be under 24/7 care.

Addiction Therapy and Psychological Treatment

The bulk of your time will be spent in therapy. The treatments you participate in will be based on your individual needs, so you may not do every session listed below.

Our range of therapies we provide includes:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Schema Therapy
  • Trauma-Informed Care
  • Motivational Enhancement
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Coping Skills Development
  • Meaningful Daily Activities
  • Psychoeducation
  • Recovery Planning
  • Legal and Discharge Planning

Recovery Planning and Support After Rehab

Leaving rehab can be scary. We help you prepare for this whilst still in treatment.

We provide relapse prevention support, helping you to identify triggers, develop a recovery plan and work on coping strategies.

We can offer continued professional support and encourage you to connect with groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous during treatment so you know who to reach out to when you leave us.

Addiction and Co-occurring Mental Health Problems

Addiction can often go hand-in-hand with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and PTSD.

We provide dual-diagnosis treatment, capable of treating mental health issues alongside your addiction. Your assessment will help us figure out the best approach to ensure you get the right support. In some cases, we may need help and specialist mental health care could be required.

Family Support During Rehab at Cassiobury Court

At Cassiobury Court, we understand that addiction can affect families, friends, carers and wider support networks.

To support recovery and help families learn more about addiction, build up healthier communication and help prepare for the loved one’s return home, we facilitate a weekly Family Support Group every Saturday.

Any family involvement will be dictated by clients’ needs and their wishes.

How Long Does Residential Rehab Last?

You should stay at rehab as long as you need to get fully clean and feel ready for the outside world. How long this takes can depend on factors such as your progress, severity of addiction and physical and mental health.

We recommend a 28-day stay, giving you enough time to detox and begin to develop the skills to help you achieve your recovery aims.

We also offer 10-, 14-and 21-day programmes, with longer stays available too.
