Effect of Addiction on Your Loved Ones

Addiction makes life unpredictable for family members. They may be constantly worried about you and may want to help you. There may be strained relationships that could become worse over time.

It can be difficult for your relatives to know how to talk to you. You may want to avoid the subject of addiction, however, taking action to recover will make you all feel much more comfortable.

When your social and work life becomes disturbed, that is often the first red flag that your addiction is overruling your life.

As gradual dependence takes over, your ability to think clearly starts to wane and you may feel lost. This can even lead to co-dependence which then affects other family members or your partner.

Codependency is the state in which family members find themselves when they may excuse your addictive behaviour, try to fix your problems for you and enable your alcohol or drug addiction. This cycle must be broken and is best achieved with a private drug or alcohol rehab.

Family counselling sessions are also a great way to break down every issue and heal codependency sensitively and positively.

What are the Benefits of Private Drug and Alcohol Rehab?

Private drug rehab comes with numerous benefits that go far beyond sobriety. Rehab itself is not just a place to remove addiction, but a place to realise your dreams, set goals and boundaries and improve your mental health.

Private rehab is a comprehensive treatment plan that allows you to heal ongoing issues and recalibrate your mind. Here are some noted benefits of private rehab:

  • Achieving a stable and long term sobriety
  • Restoring or securing your confidence and motivation
  • Improving the ability to cope with mental health issues
  • Feeling comfortable reintegrating
  • Making new friends and meeting new people
  • Gaining a network of support
  • Learning new life skills

The Therapies/Treatments Available to You

At Cassiobury Court, you can choose from a range of world-class treatments, to align with your needs and beliefs, and work in cooperation with your family and friends. This commitment to rehab offers you a solution to every aspect of addiction and treatments are often combined, for maximum impact.

You can expect to begin with a drug detox when you arrive with us. This will safely and effectively remove the substance from your body.

During the withdrawal phase, you will be looked after by our medical team in a luxury setting, with medical assistance if needed.

Following drug and alcohol detox you will enter your treatment phase. This will include a series of theories and counselling sessions which include the following:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy is a psychological treatment of depression, anxiety disorders, alcoholism or drug addiction. The premise of this treatment is to change and adapt your thought patterns and the way you react and behave.

It allows you to explore integral internal elements of your thought patterns and plays a part in improving your understanding of your triggers.

It seeks to train and change your mind into working through each problem and trigger relating to your addiction and helps you to be calm and talk openly about each one.

A mutual collaborative effort takes place to help learn to understand your mind and rewire your mind to become adaptive to all situations. Decision-making and self-awareness are key to this, and when we implement these treatments, you will be able to take back that control.

Group and Individual Counselling

These sessions are divided into two sections. One is group therapy, where you’ll be in a room with others on the same journey. It creates the opportunity to motivate and support each other.

There are also individual sessions, which provide you with an intense one-to-one to speak about your worries and deal.

Art Therapy

Therapeutic art therapy allows you to be creatively stimulated by the artistic design to depict your feelings and inner processes. It helps you process your feelings, whilst expressing them through art.

Artistic expression has been used for many years and can help stabilise your feelings by sharing them this way. There are various healing methods associated with it. It’s an incredible way to be creative with a cathartic outcome.

Contingency Management (Aftercare Plans)

Aftercare plans are created for every patient to ensure that you get the help you need following your stay with us. You must learn to navigate the real world again, safely and effectively, without a worry in your mind.

This is easily achievable with an aftercare plan, created bespoke by our team. These include relapse prevention and self-help tips as well as support meetings.

All of these treatments are conducted by psychologists or social therapists experienced in addiction treatment and can put your mind fully at ease.

There is always strict confidentiality and sensitivity maintained throughout. We are here to help you and want you to always feel comfortable during your time here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rehab programmes can take different amounts of time depending on the severity of the addiction you are trying to overcome. However, most of Cassiobury Court’s residential rehabilitation programmes last for around 28 days. This extensive period of time spent dedicated to an intensive treatment plan will provide you with the best possible chance if achieving a full recovery.

Medically assisted detox is a course of physical addiction treatment by which withdrawal symptoms are monitored and managed by trained professionals. Cassiobury Court administer this treatment at our rehabilitation centres detox clinic. During your treatment, any alcohol withdrawal and/or substance abuse withdrawal symptoms that you present with will be carefully managed with medication. The medication that you receive during this treatment will also depend on what addiction it is that you are overcoming.

A lot of addictions are characterised as behavioural illnesses. While we can help people to break free from the cycle of addiction, the threat of relapsing will sadly always be there. However, through our relapse prevention planning and complimentary aftercare programme, you will be able to keep the prospect of relapse at bay. Relapsing is a threat that you learn to manage and avoid, meaning a lot of successful recovering addicts never relapse.
