Noticing the Signs and Symptoms of Addiction

An addiction can completely change someone’s life in a few short weeks, completely ripping normality apart. The affected individual may not even recognise what is happening, blindly stumbling through life as friendships disintegrate and families leave the household.

Someone living with an addiction will see their body and their mind change rapidly and beyond all recognition as the addiction takes a grip of them.

It’s particularly difficult to watch a loved one causing untold damage to themselves, but family and friends often have to endure this. Personalities alter rapidly – the outgoing become withdrawn, the placid become aggressive and the model citizen often turns to crime in order to fund their habit. The well-groomed become unkempt, and rapid, significant weight loss or gain may occur.

It could be that you recognise these symptoms of drug or alcohol addiction yourself. If you recognise them in a loved one, Cassiobury Court offer alcohol intervention and family intervention so you can seek advice and assistance to get someone you care about the help that they need.

Knowing when to attend rehab can be a life saver, as when an addiction becomes advanced, every day is essential as the problem becomes harder to treat with every passing day.

Why not get in touch with us today for a no obligation consultation and to discuss our treatment options and admissions process?

The Rehab Process

Cassiobury Court offer a wide range of drug rehab and alcohol rehab treatments, each one suited to our clients as individuals. There are two main kinds of rehab we offer, which is inpatient rehab and outpatient rehab. These are similar in approach but very different in delivery.

Inpatient treatment takes place exclusively within our residential rehab clinic, allowing you to undergo your treatment, rest and recover in safety and complete privacy. By taking time away from your usual life, you can overcome your addiction with a focus on your recovery.

This kind of treatment is usually reserved for those suffering with a long-standing addiction. This supportive environment is best suited for those who may not have a safe or secure home life.

Outpatient treatment is best suited for those who have recently become addicted and who have a modicum of control over their life. This kind of treatment allows you to return home to your family during the evening and at weekends after a day of rehab in our clinic in Hodge Hill. If you have a supportive, safe home life then this is an ideal treatment option for you to mix your recovery with plenty of family time.

Due to unprecedented cuts to the NHS over the last ten years, waiting times are at an all time high and you may not receive NHS funded treatment in a timely fashion. This runs the risk of your addiction worsening whilst you wait.

Additionally, addiction and mental health problems are usually concurrent. If we identify a mental health problem, such as bipolar disorder or anxiety, we will provide dual-diagnosis treatment. This allows us to treat both your mental health condition and your addiction simultaneously – not something that happens with most NHS treatments.

Detox and Therapy Treatments

Detoxification is a vital part of your recovery. Most of Cassiobury Court’s clients require drug detox and alcohol detox in order to heal their body and mind in the long term. Detox is the process of removing all toxins from the body associated with an addiction.

Cassiobury Court offer a medically assisted detox to help our clients overcome withdrawal symptoms that can cause severe discomfort. Because of this, we do not advise you try a DIY detox at home and as symptoms can be dangerous (such as severe sweating, shaking and nausea) we would recommend that any detox attempt is medically supervised.

When your detox has been completed, and you are no longer dependent on drugs or alcohol, you will undergo therapy. Offered on an individual and group basis, you will be able to examine your addiction and the reasons you became addicted to a substance in the first place. You will also be able to share your experiences and feelings with your peers in group therapy.

Before you leave Cassiobury Court, you’ll be given a comprehensive aftercare plan. This will promote positive changes in your life and is a vital component of relapse prevention, ensuring you have 24 hour support to continue to live a life free of addictive substances.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can contact Cassiobury Court today via the telephone or our website to have a free consultation about your concerns.

There are many signs and symptoms of an addiction but the most noticeable are big, sudden changes to weigh, complete alterations in personality and someone hiding themselves away from the world.

Dual diagnosis is when an underlying mental health condition is diagnosed alongside an addiction. Dual diagnosis treatment is when both the mental health condition and the addiction are treated simultaneously.
